UW-Madison Secure Zoom Accounts were requested by and created for the UW–‍Madison’s Health Care Component (HCC) population.

People who are using UW-Madison Zoom outside of the classroom may want to adjust these settings to meet their needs.

UW-Madison Standard Account defaults have been vetted and put in place by the UW-Madison Cybersecurity Office to support instructional and classroom use.

They cannot utilize user and account add-ons such as large meeting or webinar. If 3 or more participants join, the meeting will time out after 40 minutes. A basic user can host meetings with up to 100 participants.

Consumer Basic Accounts are for users without a paid license.

If you used a Zoom personal account, your experience with a UW-Madison Standard or UW-Madison Secure Zoom account will be different due to the account setting differences. It absolutely requires you to enable at least one of the two options.This document compares the default settings for Zoom personal, UW-Madison Standard, UW-Madison Secure Zoom, UW-Madison UHS, and UW-Madison Extension account settings. After successfully doing this, I tried to then remove the require password option, but sure enough you get an error and it won't save the change. Once you set the password (still in Personal Meeting ID Settings) expand 'Advanced Options' at the bottom of the window, and you should be able to deselect the waiting room option. The article linked explains that basically Zoom is forcing you to use at least one of these two options (waiting room, or meeting password) and if you don't select one, it defaults to the waiting room and will not let you remove it unless you set a meeting password first. In my case, I'm not too worried about this security feature, so I actually used the meeting ID as the meeting password for simplicity's sake.

Here you check the box to require a meeting password and enter a password. In the Zoom desktop application, go to the 'Meetings' tab, then under your Personal Meeting ID, select 'Edit'
